AT THE MOMENT ,INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAR,FAR TOO OFTEN ALLOWS THE STRONG TO EXPLOIT THE WEAK.THE RICH TO BECOME RICHER AT THE EXPENSE OF THE POOR.PROFITS FOR MULTINATIONAL CORPORATION ARE CONSIDERED MORE IMPORTANT THAN DECENT WORKING CONDITIONS AND FAIR PAY FOR PEOPLE. THE RESULT IS POVERTY AND SUFFERING ON A HUGE SCALE. THAT MUST CHANGE;SUPPORT FAIR TRADE SPEAK OUT FOR TRADE JUSTICE make poverty history Cameroon often refered to as Africa in miniature is made up of a rural community of ARTISANS and FARMERS ,which constitute about 80 percent of the population.C AMEROON is endowed with natural fertile soils,yet the efforts and labour of the people ,is brought to nothingness ,since no revenue can be raised from the sell of their products in the local markets.As such ARTISANS and FARMERS in Cameroon live below a dollar a day in squalid conditions. EUROPE and the USA pay its farmers high subsidise to over produce and dump the surplus in Africa thus pushing farmers out of business into poverty.This is unfair and we are advocating for fair trade .Whereby marginalised farmers and artisans receive just rewards for their efforts and produst Poverty is so dire that surviving the day is all you have the energy for.By the end of today 15 people 10 of them children will have died of poverty,HIV/AIDS ,MALARIA ,TUBERCLOSIS [CURABLE DISEASES],.No means of Livelihood,children thrown out of school ,rural exodus, community for survival of the fittest and no hope for the future. If the situation is left unchecked it will go out of hand and the consequences will be dramatic to the lifes of 16 MILLION people.The clock is ticking .Its time to take action now ,every passing day add more to the injury. Only when people understand living circumstances they can be tolerant.Not only poverty ,Hiv/Aids,misery,illeteracy is of priority of the people of NDOP but their capacity.The people of CAMEROON produce exquisite handcraft and organic farm produce such as[coffee ,foodstuff ,collection from the wild etc] for which acces to market their products ,will have a multiplier effect,generate income , guarantee jobs which will go a long way to improve the welbeing and safeguard the livelihood of these marginalised communities.Hope for prosterity. |
